Bridge of Harmony is pleased to announce a formal partnership with Transformational Tutors, a London-based social enterprise  Co-founded by Shona Pollock. This collaboration comes after two years of working together to support young people from diverse backgrounds.

Transformational Tutors was established during the first lockdown of 2020 by Shona and Rajani Sidaani, both of whom had experience working in East London comprehensive schools. Rajani, a British-Moroccan teacher, initially launched the organisation with online lessons focused on Arab and North African cultures and heritage. Over time, Shona expanded the organisation’s mission to encompass youth empowerment, with a particular focus on refugee and minority communities.

Shona’s background spans housing, politics, education and youth work and she has played a vital role in creating workshops and community schools tailored to the needs of marginalised groups.

Raised in Hackney, she comes from a lineage of educators and changemakers- her mother, Elizabeth Pollock, was one of London’s first African headteachers, and her grandfather, Lawrence Vambe, was a renowned Zimbabwean writer and freedom fighter. These influences have shaped her unwavering belief in the African proverb:

It takes a village to raise a child.

Shona’s interactive and student-centred approach has made a significant impact on many of our young people at Bridge of Harmony. She has worked with students facing challenges such as ADHD, trauma, and low confidence, helping them to find their voice and flourish. Her hands-on teaching style has led students beyond the classroom, with educational trips to Brighton, Stratford-upon-Avon, and the Houses of Parliament and Lords making learning an engaging and empowering experience.

We are excited to formalise this partnership and look forward to expanding our joint efforts to support young people in achieving their full potential.
